Spring Fling Tournament Teams Preview (Teams 1-8 in no particular order)

  1. Bad Booze Bears – Captain: Brenda Talamini

Hometown: Franklin, MA

Brenda enters this tournament with her team for the first time representing the team as the captain. She’s fresh off her captain duties in the Sunday Night Softball in Framingham Indoor Softball League where their squad made it all the way to the ship. Don’t underestimate this squad, they have a lot of wins under their belt.

  1. Booze Bags – Captain: Mark DiLorenzo

Hometown: Waltham, MA

Another squad rocking booze in their name. While the team name may be a bit generic, they’ll have to keep the Bud Lights to a minimum if they expect to compete with this stacked tournament field. We don’t know too much about this team as we haven’t seen them in a tourney with us before. Way too often it’s a sleeper team that makes it to the afternoon bracket play, will they be the ones?

  1. Brew Crew – Captain: Zac Beeley

Hometown: Hanson, MA

Zac and the Brew Crew team are a perennial three season team with us. For league play you’ll find this squad playing in the Weeknights in JP League. They also played in the Spring Fling tourney last year. They had a bit of a tough go, finishing with an 0-3 record in pool play but you really can never count them out.

  1. Caught Looking – Captain: Kris Monson

Hometown: Brighton, MA

If you play softball you know this guy. If you don’t know Kris Monson or you haven’t heard of him, clearly you don’t play softball in Boston. The guy is the ultimate gamer, if you can believe it or not over the last year Kris has found himself on 26 rosters. He has captained 15 different teams over the last year and he shows no signs of slowing down. Kris doesn’t just play to rack up stats, he hopes he has his top notch crew together for a sneaky run this Sunday.

  1. Da Fam – Captain: Mike Comtois

Hometown: Andover, MA

Mike and his team are no strangers to HUB tournaments. We saw his team compete last year and they always seem to be a solid contender. They typically play in 5+ tournaments every year so they know it takes stamina to make it all the way to the end. They’re hoping for a solid draw to play themselves into single elimination bracket play in the afternoon.

  1. Dirty Rabbits – Captain: Mike Calitri

Hometown: Beverly, MA

Mike is one hell of a gamer, you’d be hard-pressed to not find this guy playing any given day of the week. He also took his talents to the football field the last couple winter indoor seasons. Mike and the Dirty Rabbits have been playing together for going on 5 years in a row now, last year they even racked up a couple league championships. They’ll need to bring in some long-bomb hitters to keep up with the pace on Sunday.

  1. Dollar Drafts – Captain: Doug Horton

Hometown: Bedford, MA

Doug and his crew have played in the Spring Fling a bunch of times. Last year they ended up going 0-3 in pool play to finish 4th in their pool. Their games were pretty close however, they lost to DCD by only 1 run to end the day off. They will look to build on last year’s results and make some waves this year. If they can play solid D again and limit any big innings, they have a shot to advance.

  1. Handcock Tavern – Captain: David Brolin

Hometown: Quincy, MA

Hailing from the Quincy area these guys are also very familiar with HUB tournaments. They were an absolute buzz-saw in pool play last year for the Spring Fling, going 3-0 and winning their pool. They didn’t have the consistency overall to take home the championship hardware though. They enter this year a definite odds-on favorite but they can’t have any slip ups.
